![]() ![]() Tldr pally's armor and weapons proficiencies, Cha to hit with melees, teleporting reaction melees + force damage and all the benefits of a Sorlock. So my DM allowed this combo, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the full possibilities myself. Please help me understand why SorLock is so commonly recommended! I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just missing why it's such a notable build. Doesn't a Draconic Sorcerer have comparable options once they hit level 6? They could get +CHA to a Fire Bolt and do the same damage as EB, right? Granted, it's fire damage, that's definitely a weaker damage type, but still.įor the third point: Combining what I said above, post-6, couldn't they just quicken a firebolt to get the same result as quickening an EB? Perhaps this is unusual and skews my judgment?) I guess I'm thinking that a level 2 spell slot seems pretty comparable to quickening a spell.įor the second point: Getting the amazing EB+Agonizing Blast. (In fact, we've never gotten to 10 in a campaign. I know that at level 10, the increase in EB's will then become better than a Scorching ray, but that could be many many months of gameplay after level 5. But, say you're a Fiend Warlock, you could have used that spell slot to cast Scorching Ray for 6d6 damage, which averages to 21. At +4 CHA, this is an average of 19 damage. This will give you (at character level 5), 2d10 + 2*CHA damage. You could do two EB's in one turn at the cost of two sorcery points. A level 2 spell slot nets you two sorcery points that you can use for quickening a spell, for example. I'm just trying to do the math out and I think I'm missing something.įor the first point: Turning your Lock slots into Sorcery Points. You can Quicken an EB to get two EB's a turn. You get EB+Agonizing Blast, which gives you an amazing 'auto-attack'. You can turn your Lock spell slots into Sorcery Points. The benefits of this that I see mentioned most are that: Usually it's 2-3 levels of Warlock, rest as Sorc. I commonly see the SorLock build recommended around here.
